Thanksgiving Rightly Addressed by Dawn at The Homeschool Post. (Who did you thank on Thursday?)

Are you kidding me?? at Starry Sky Ranch. (I couldn't agree with her more.)

Why Do I Homeschool? by Stephanie at Heart of the Matter. (She beautifully articulates our reasons for home schooling.)

I just ready Starry Sky Ranch's blog post and she's right but I'm one of those that sees things both ways. I was one of those Black Friday shoppers. It's the first Friday in 8 yrs I haven't had to work. My mom and I went into Conway and shopped starting at 5:00. The sales were great and we weren't out to just get the latest and greatest...we were just out having a good time trying to get her Christmas started/finished and I was picking up stuff that we needed or would need in the next couple of months. We had a great time and had the most fun at Hobby Lobby getting stuff to make ornaments for my son's class and fabric to make some clothes for my daughter. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Thank you for the comment, Stephanie. I'm glad you had a day off and a fun shopping trip with your mom!

I totally understand hitting the sales. I am a sale shopper myself. I think the point of the post I linked to is to keep a proper perspective about all the sales. Saving money is great. But it's just stuff.

No stuff is more important than the life of the poor man who was trampled to death on Friday.

Completely agree!!!! Luckily we didn't see any lines like that..We're not big crowd people either so we would have just left.

I wish we could go back about 70 years or so to when times were simpler. I try to think that way but it's hard. That's one good thing about living in small town Arkansas...not much shopping and don't have to keep up with the Jones's so to speak.
