Playing in the Sprinklers on Family Fun Friday

Running through the sprinklers is a classic summer fun activity.  But one I find difficult to allow.  Why?

Muddy feet + grass coated swimsuits + wet towels
= More Work For Mom.

But this summer I'm trying very hard to see beyond the extra work, say yes more than I say no, and make this the best summer ever.

So, on a recent HOT Saturday, when my kids asked to hook up the Water Pillar Will received for his birthday I said yes (and Daddy hooked it up!).

I think it's safe to say they had fun!!

Have you been making this the best summer ever?  What activities have you done so far?

LOVE IT! Especially since we have the same funky sprinkler! Love that you put it on a shepherds hook. we have issues with the hand/arm thingies getting stuck on each other, maybe that will help? Have a great day!

The shepherds hook was my hubby's idea. I'm not sure why he did it but the kids loved running under the water just as much as they enjoyed jumping over it.

Except for Sam (20 months). He didn't like running too close to the Water pillar but enjoyed being wet at the edge of it's range. :)

Those sprinklers look AWESOME! I can think of two little boys who would absolutely LOVE playing in something like that!

However, both would refuse to set one naked toe on the grass. That's what water shoes were created for.

No barefeet in the grass?!

Only Sam keeps his shoes on outside and that's because he hasn't really mastered the art of taking them off. Everyone else will were sandals outside and pull them off 5 minutes later. You should see the dirty children I have at the end of each day!!! 3 of them had showers Wed. BEFORE LUNCH because they were so dirty.

I'm thinking I should have purchased a cool sprinkler instead of the monstrous pool. Sprinklers are so much more of an instant fun. You don't have to wait around forever until they are filled.

That looks great! I usually spend 15 or 20 minutes hooking up the sprinkler to have them play in it a total of 5! But that sprinkler looks really fun!

I'm with Dolly. Plus, the dog would chew any baby pool he had access to. But a sprinkler can be put away, out of reach!! My kids also love playing with the hose! (Any water, really, will do.)

The looks on your children's faces are proof that this was fun, fun, fun!

They look like they had a blast! I was wondering where Sam was in these pictures. : ) Love Ellie's bathing suit - very cute!

Linda, they grinned and squealed the whole time!

Dawn, I love Ellie's swim suit! I got it on clearance last year from Land's End. Now that I think about ALL our swim suits are Land's End. Everyone else's I bought on clearance in the either last year or this year. Hopefully I can get a new on for me this year. :)
