Don't you know 36 inches is bigger than 3 feet?

Tonight our bedtime Bible reading with the boys was the story of God sending quail to the whining Children of Israel (As opposed to the whining Children of Stephanie - they'd have no use for quail. For them he might choose chocolate cupcakes. But I digress.).

The story describes quail 3 feet deep for a day's walk outside the Camp. In order to bring that detail home to Will I had him stand up and explained that he's 3 feet tall so the quail would have been to the top of his head.

The point was entirely lost. He kept telling me he's more than 3 feet tall. And then he'd count as he raised his hand up his body. By his count he's about 15 or 19 tall. No set measuring standard needed.

Finally, to put an end to the futility so they could go to bed, I informed him he's 36 inches tall. He considered that "very much taller" than 3 feet and went to bed a happy little man.

Ah, the mind of a three-year-old male child! It's a wonder to behold!

I didn't get my nap today and am very tired. Can anyone figure out the mistake I made in this post?

It's so nice to have you blogging-how are you feeling?

I seriously can't tell the mistake, and I don't get to use being pregnant as an excuse.

Hey, I won my first bloggy prize. Yay!!!!

Oh how funny. No pregnant brain here either & I have no clue what mistake was made!

I do have to say as you get older - bigger numbers are not better. I do not want to be 60'' tall - I would rather be 5 feet. And for weight - well it goes without saying that the smaller that number the better - in normal woman terms, not hollywood woman terms, of course. I don't want to look like a human lollipop!

Aren't 3-year-olds the funniest!

Mine told me the other day that if God made her a boy, she'd ask him why he did that. She was completely serious.

He's right, 36 inches is way more than 3 feet. I think the mistake is that you were talking with Ben, not Will. Or you really were talking about Will, and forgot that he's actually four. Mommy-brain...that's all I'm gonna say!

Do I get a prize if I guess your mistake? Oh darn...well I guess that's good because I have no idea what it is.

Somehow I messed up on my comment earlier today and it didn't post! I believe you were talking with Will but he is 4 and not 3. I thought through all your math with 3 ft. being 36"...and it clicked when I got to the end. Micah being 4 is what made it so clear to me! :)Otherwise I totally would have missed it!

Julie and Amy win the prize. I said my 4 year old is 3. He'd be very put out with me if he knew that! = )

Aw, cute. It does *sound* a lot bigger! Be sure and tell him that even though a nickel is bigger than a dime, he shouldn't let anybody trade him. :)

Of course, now I'm just thinking about what a mess of feathers and bird doody that would be left behind by three-feet-deep quail. Bible stories take on a different color after you've visited a chicken house!
