I am the Queen of Excuses when it comes to not exercising. Just ask my husband!
I limited myself to only sharing 10 excuses in this post. I have used every single one of the excuses. I'm not proud of it. Just stating a fact.
Which excuse not to exercise is your favorite? |
Creating an exercise habit is one of my personal goals for Project 10. Unfortunately, I've used excuses more than I've exercised and my lack of weight loss reveals that fact.
So, starting today - NO MORE EXCUSES.
I am training for a 5k, NK5K.net using Couch to 5K as a guide. That means I'll run/walk 3 times a week. At least 2 times a week I'll use some other type of body weight exercises (push-ups, sit-ups, etc.).
To help keep me accountable I've set up a profile on My Fitness Pal. I'm stephmommybrain. Throughout the coming weeks I'll publicly track my food and exercise using this app. Please friend me! The more people checking up on me the better!
Which excuse not to exercise is YOUR favorite? Will you join me on My Fitness Pal?

You can do it! Yep - excuses will kill you every time. No more - heck a $10 workout DVD can be done after the kids are in bed at night. I just got a new Yoga DVD and am excited to get back into a routine now that there's a lull in vacation/travel.
I'm tired...that's my excuse that I have banished...with a toddler and a baby on the way I'm always going to be tired!!! I'll check out fitness pal!
It is so hard to get going, but once you finish it feels so great!
Mostly I go with "I'm tired."
Haven't commented on this new "project" of yours, but I have found it very interesting to follow along. (I need to comment.) These days I've just begun monitoring my food and cutting back on intake. I've dropped three pounds and I'm re-motivated so that's fantastic. These posts popping up in my Google Reader help to keep me focused, so thanks!
I am the same way Stephanie! I use either a friends wedding or sign myself up for 5k or 10k to hold myself accountable! And it works, fear of not being able to finish a race or not fitting into a certain dress always motivates me. Good luck with your race!
Good on ya!
My go-to excuse at the moment is that I'm 36 weeks pregnant and IT'S TOO DAMN HOT OUT!
But usually, I go with "I'm too tired," or "I don't have time." Finding something that I really love makes it harder to use those excuses, and for me, something that breeds community is the way to go - people comment when you don't show up. That's why martial arts has become totally my thing (when I'm not this close to popping, obv).
Amanda, I think 36 weeks pregnant is a very reasonable excuse not to exercise! I also like community activities. Running alone is pure torture but running with a friend is fun. Congrats on the new baby!
Good on you - I am the queen of excuses, usually.
Couch to 5k seems to be a very powerful tool!
A friend of mine did it and has never looked back.
GO YOU!
