The bag will explode with such force that the zipper down the side will open. The explosion will leave a hole running the entire length of the bag. And your five year old (who's job it is to vacuum the hallway) will be enveloped in a cloud of smoke-like dust.
Once the dust settles the carpet will be covered with dust bunnies and particles that you have spent the last
Naturally there is no extra bag in the house. (That's why the bag hasn't been changed in the first place.) So you will need to sweep the carpet vigorously in order to remove the dirt.
Now you know what will happen if you don't change the bag inside the vacuum cleaner.
Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Oh no! I have a bagless vacuum, but I don't think the suction is as good as one with a bag although I suppose it is more convenient!
We have a bagless vaccuum too, but we have had teh belt burn out.
What happens to all that hair when it doesn't make it in the trash can? It gets stuck and tangled in the wheels and then makes the belt work extra hard.
It is really hard to get rid of the smell of burning rubber. ;)
That is SO funny! I haven't had that happen (I'm sure only because my vacuum has a hard plastic cover), but I have done this: Been out of bags when I REALLY needed to vacuum, and pulled all the dirt out of the bag so I could recycle it!!!!
Oh my! Nope, never had that experience. Have probably let other things in my home go longer than I should, but not the vacuum bags. But that's because I am constantly changing the bags in mine. I check each time I vacuum to see if it needs a new bag and buy my bags in bulk so as to always have a ready supply. I am convinced the vacuum has more suction power with a less full bag, and I am all about suctioning as much filth out of my carpets as possible! Changing vacuum bags often is a quirky habit of mine. And now I'm glad that it is!!!! Happy sweeping, friend! And did you happen to stop and take a picture of the child covered in vacuum dust? That would surely be worth posting!
Having a full bag does affect the suction. I didn't take a picture of Will. The dust was really hard to see. Poor kid was traumatized. He shut the vacuum off quick because he thought the dust was smoke. = )
Poor Will! Yes, I've had my bag fill up, too. Ours didn't quite explode like yours (probably because we have a canister vacuum) but it did still manage to make a mess. As I remember, just as we were preparing for company--you know, the last minute vacuum job:). I am guessing in the future Will will be good at getting that bag changed!!
We only use bag-less too and our canister is clear so I can see just how full it is at all times and if it needs to be emptied.
