Cabbage Patch Dolls

OK, Ladies. Who among us had a Cabbage Patch Doll growing up?

And for all you young'uns, I'm talking about the FIRST Cabbage Patch Dolls. The ones parents stood in line for hours to buy for Christmas back before you were born. (Oh, do I feel old!)

The real question is did you have an "official" doll or did you have a knock-off? And can you tell today which one is which?

I had a knock-off. My maternal Grandma paid a lady to make one from a kit for each of us 5 granddaughters. Truth be told she probably paid almost as much as a store bought doll cost. Can you tell from the picture which is "real" and which is the fake?
The real one arrived last month from my mom for Ellie's second birthday. It must be genetic to buy your granddaughter a Cabbage Patch Doll.

Don't be fooled by the picture. She plays with her baby dolls but if you look on the bed over her shoulder you'll see the (empty) water gun she put down in order to pose for me with the dolls.

She's quite the mix of girly-girl and tom boy!

So, did you have a Cabbage Patch Doll? Real or fake? Do you still have it?

Oh yes, Cabbage Patch dolls! My Grandmother somehow was able to get my sister and I both REAL Cabbage Patch dolls and we were so excited! Mine was Matilda and I still have her...in my attic along with a bunch of her clothes. Guess I should get her down for Mia?! But, where would I put her? :)

Oh yes! Cabbage Patch Dolls. I worked on my parents for quite a while for one of those. We didn't have a lot of money and seldom got treats, but they did get my sister and I a Cabbage Patch Doll. I still have her too.

Can you believe I didn't have real or fake? But I remember the craze. I just wasn't a doll or stuffed animal girl.

I had a Cabbage Patch Premie. I still have it and my girls play with it. I also have a fake one, and when we went to visit my parents my mom made each of my girls one from the heads she's saved for at least 20 years!!! They loved them.

I do remember the craze over those dolls. I never had a Cabbage Patch Doll either. Not sure I even wanted one since I wasn't really into dolls (except Barbie). Even if I did want one there is no way we could afford it.

By the way, my guess is the blond one is the real Cabbage Patch. Of course, never having owned one, I am probably completely wrong. : )

I had a fake first - given to me by my grandmother. I eventually scored one real CPK while the girls at school bragged about the 15 or 20 they had been given. I kept mine in great condition, and have now given them to Lily.

oh yes! my mom made me a fake one...her name was Tracy beth. Then I got the real thing (probably after the store fighting ended). Her name was Tara Beatrice.

I loved those girls.
