1st Day of Summer Celebration (Part 2)

For my family celebrating the 1st official day of summer required two parts:  a field trip to the Zoo and a backyard picnic for supper!

While Daddy grilled our hot dogs and hamburgers we waited impatiently with potato chips and lemonade.

He worked quickly so we didn't have to wait long...

But it was SOOOOOOO worth the wait!!

Sam gorged himself on half a bowl of potato chips.  He would have been happy to finish them off if I would have let him!

You can see our picnic was simple.  Lemonade, hamburgers, hot dogs and chips.  Simple but fun!

Of course, no summer picnic would be complete without ice cream cones!!

If the rest of our summer is as fun as today was then we're going to have a great time!!

Thank you Offering Hospitality for reminding us to celebrate summer and giving us a reason to share our celebration.  For more ideas for summer celebrations go visit the carnival at Offering Hospitality!

Delicous! Some meals may be simple but just can't be improved upon! What a special day you all had! We celebrated by finishing up our t-ball season complete with slushies after the game--and getting windows installed so we can open our downstairs windows!

If Micah hadn't had school we would have had ice cream for breakfast...maybe another day this summer or next year!

Keep making it the best summer ever! :)

Again - that's awesome! We don't have a grill and I keep telling Jonathan that this is a great deficiency during the summer time. A grill is like a NECESSARY PART of enjoying summer! =D Ahh, well. Patience is a virtue (I don't have much of.)

That looks like TONS of fun! And yes, of course, the ice cream is a must!

Wish I could have been there.
I was up at 6am to beat the heat and picked blackberries. I only got a handful, so another trip is planned.

Keep the pictures coming. This family is so sweet:0)

Maybe Addi and I will have a picnic this week.

Looks like a great way to celebrate the start of summer. I cannot get over how big Sam is getting? Where is your little baby?
